Operation Octoberfest... Last call for lager! ~ Heineken Green Room is back & Lil Jon @ Mist Club, 17/10/2008

Visit our new blog at www.thecoolerexperience.blogspot.com

(This message is brought to ya'll by WannabeNigga)

Imagine ya'll at a hip hop concert.

A gangsta one, not like Black Eyed Peas or some Will Smith crazy shit.

Mo gangsta than Jay Z. Mos def'nally gangsta than dat Soulja Boy freak.

Now... I wan ya'll to imagine dat ya'll speak the DIRTY SOUTH slang (country nigga style).

At d concert, simplify those hip hop songs to some repetitious simple hip hop club tunes and limit what ya'll hear from the rapper.

Dis is wut ya'll call as CRUNK (pronounced Ker-angk)

Ya'll know... according to Merriam Webster Online Dictionary

CRUNK (noun) is a word of fluctuating meaning used during the 1990s in lyrics of the rap groups OutKast and Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz.

As off the year 2000, a style of Southern rap music featuring repetitive chants and rapid dance rhythms.

Word...

When ya'll limit 'em words... make sure ya'll wanna hear dis

YEAHHH!!! (Ye-ayah)

WHAAAT?!!! (Hu-at-uh)

OKAAYY... (Oh-khaye)

Cause that was what it was like to party live at a concert by THE GODFATHER OF CRUNK himself

Now this is one bad ass, off d heazy, party rocksta, crunkin muthaf**ka

Ya'll check this shit out...

Lil Jon @ Mist Club - Song compilation

Can ya'll dig it? Do ya'll feel the crunk?

Mo of my crunkin-feel-good videos at the bottom.

(WannabeNigga signing out)

That was my wannabe rendition of a Hip Hop introduction to this post.

I think I used to be better.

Now that you know what this post will be about. This is whats in store for the next coming posts.

Review of two past events coming soon...

Dexpistols... Japan's electronica specialist, the so called Daft Punk of the orient.

Dexpistols (Jap)

And last but never ever least, our electronica party savvy homeboys, LapSap.

5ft & Xu of LAPSAP

Visit their facebook HERE.

Why attend this event?
Apart from the obvious exclusivity factor and the audacious performers, it is another installation of Heineken's party series.

So expect plenty of side entertainments, stunning deco and sublime chilled Heiny. Oh how we love this lager.

To all my party peeps, get ready to be electrified and party your trendy arses off.

Let's pick up where we left off at the top of this post. Yes, the one with the wannabe Hip Hop lingo. If you have enjoyed the vid (I hope you do, cause there was flighting liquids every where), now lets get crunk again at

The Godfather of CRUNK...

LIL JON launches "Lollipop" @ Mist Club (Bangsar), 17/10/2008

The crunkin' party

The venue. To be here, it's advisable to take a cab. You'll know why when you get here.

Apart from the parking situation on certain nights, the venue itself was not bad. The space was there. The usual club offerings were there too. But something was missing. Can't seem to put my finger on what it is. Maybe next time.

Edmundo. Thanks mate for the invites.

Pre-Lil Jon entertainment. They know what they were doing. Crowd was pleased.

DJs Angelo and Cza.

Some of the party peeps. Snazzy...

One pre-show activity that should not be on cam. Ooops...

Midnight... 15 minutes later... half an hour later... 45 minutes later...

LIL JON IN THE HOUZ!!!

Gangsta

Crunkin' mad

Yeah! or What! or OK!... Simplicity the best policy.

*Beep...* You know what this is

The crew

Shake yer pimp hand strong...

Mad love for the Godfather

Mad love coming back at them

Crunk Juice??? Damn lucky ladies to have sipped from the same bottle

Nothing better then when a performer, pours down some good 'ol party juice into (or onto) some lucky ladies.

NICE..

And we out...

You have seen the compilation vid of this party (top of the post)... now enjoy 2 more vids. First one is how the Godfather entered in style and the second vid is a mad... MAD mix of a song.

Enjoy...

Lil Jon @ Mist Club - Lil Jon's entrance & 1st song

Lil Jon @ Mist Club - Alex Gaudino VS Lil Jon and Pitbull

That's all ya'll. We'll get mo crunk and crackin crazy at the next post.

Cause next up are some other great party previews and a look back at why Benny Benassi is the king...

Have fun this Holloween weekend. May the party devils in you come out and play...

Muahaha...

Operation Octoberfest... Last call for lager! ~ Storm this wednesday & Club Quattro Launch @ Avenue K, 17/10/08

Visit our new blog at www.thecoolerexperience.blogspot.com

Aiseh...

Last week of the Operation Octoberfest party series.

Last call for beer. Last song. No encore. Are we sad?

NOPE!

So let's kick off this Wednesday till Friday with some crazy Halloween parties.

But first, a preview of a party that brought me to life, took me on a crazy ride and rested me in peace, underground... all in a mention-worthy party lifecycle...

The Epic Tribe pres. Lifecycle @ Palate Palette, 25/10/08

The party. Pictures are being processed as we speak.

In support of the local underground EDM scene.

Lifecycle was an epilogue of the previous Epic Tribe parties... Closure... Confirmation.

Assurance that the Tribe will bring you more mind expanding underground psytrance-a-riffic parties. Cause when its not POP, nothing can go wrong.

A personal thanks to the good peeps of the tribe.

This post is about our más fresca cuatro experiencia de partido de temporadas de miembro de un club. (CoolerClubber's four seasons party experience)

Hmmm, CoolerClub's direct Spanish translation is miembro de un club más fresco. Weirdly interesting...

Right after, 2 sensuously scandalous past party reviews on

Lil Jon launches "Lollipop" @ Mist Club (Bangsar), 17/10/08

Benny Benassi @ Speed Zone Tour 2008 (Moto GP), Zouk Club (new and improved?) 18/10/08

2 days before some crazy... CRAZY party line up this weekend (31 Oct. - 1 Nov.), we have this

The storm

The party series

STORM at Maison KL pres. Project A (15, 22 & 28 Oct. 2008)

WHAT
Storm, a new night at Maison KL presents Project A. A night of three A-named and hopefully A-list local DJs (Affiq, Ak & Aticki). Storm is a specific offering of only Trance, Electro and Techno genres spun by local DJs.

Some words from the organizers

One sound… One Anthem!

This date's insertion, Project A; affiq, A.K. and Aticki, pushing the boundaries of mid week club banging sounds of Trance and Tech Trance!

It's a no cover charge night, but be alert dress code applies.

WHEN & WHERE
29/10/08 (Wednesday) 10pm - 3am @ Maison KL, Jalan Yap Ah Shak, Kuala Lumpur (in the same area as Asian Heritage Row)

HOW
No cover charge

Why attend this event?
Hopefully it's a live set by the DJs. And if it is, it would be worthy experience to savour the local produce. See what they can offer. You'd be thoroughly impressed with what some of the local boys have in their spinning sleeves.

Plus according to our EDM friend Badleeshah, locally good stuff will be spunned on these nights and its a no cover charge event. So what do you have to loose. Besides time spent wallowing away at home.

So lets head down and have a mid week excursion. Or maybe a warm up to the crazy weekend ahead.

Now...

El blog más fresco de la experiencia presenta, la lancha de Malasia primer club de themed de cuatro temporadas, el club de Quattro en la Avenue K por delante de 17 Octubre 2008.

In good 'ol english...

The Cooler Experience blog presents, the launch of Malaysia's first four seasons themed club... Club Quattro at Avenue K past 17 October 2008.

The launch

The club

The non-VIP Facebook registration counter and que. I entered in as media.

Autumn Club

Upon entering the designated entrance for the event, Edmundo and I were greeted by the hordes of party people crowding the main section of the club, the Autumn Club.

With movable guest tables, bar stools, private areas, autumn-based decor and a centre overlooking DJ console. This section can easily accommodate 500 standing party peeps comfortably.

Centre-overlooking DJ console

Music played during the night was a blend of R&B and hip hop. We gave this section a miss and moved on to the next one.

Spring Lounge.

Semi open air lounge with live band entertainment. Just enough openness to tease passers by into the lounge's ambiance and music.

When the appropriate amount of patrons are there (not like the over-crowding during the launch), it would make a more pleasant lounging experience. I did not how ever had the chance to test the lounge chairs.

The live band

And finally we moved on the final room. I did not want to line up at the 4-5 flights of stairs leading up to the Winter Bar, so we went to the Summer Restaurant.

As told by the organizers, the Summer Restaurant was the supposed area specifically reserved to cater for VIP and media guest to have a bite before partying during the night of the launch.

Somehow, I did not see that separation. Maybe I had the wrong info. The supposed tasting platter was just ok. Just ok...

Summer Restaurant

The peeps.

Jien and Josephine standing at the back and from left Big bro James, Edmundo, Simon and Ollie. Not in the picture but also present was Dhaima.

Did I mention there was 'sponsored' flow of beverages in the beginning of this post? I didn't did I.

Well, not worth mentioning anyways due to the limited time frame and the hordes of thirsty party people.

Maybe there should have been a couple of easily made club signature cocktails (I'm sure they have one or two). Rather than the usual stuff. Hmmm...

Nevetherless, we pushed and shoved anyways. Malaysian style. Hahaha.

I know that a winter bar is all that and all. But this you don't see as a featured attraction in any other clubs or entertainment venue. To get people in winter clothing is easy, but to attract them with rain? Hmmm... interesting.

The raining pathway

Umbrella provided

You don't want your overly-alcohol-'motivated' self to wander into this when the rain starts.

Overall, Club Quattro (with the appropriate amount of patrons) would make for an interesting entertainment and dining experience. 4 themes is maybe a bit much for me. I prefer focus.

Good thing is that patrons can just shift to another section whenever you need a change of party climate.

NICE...

That's bout it for now. I'm still recuperating from this weeks party. I see you when I'm back to normal and party ready for the next episode.

Next up, Green Room and DJ Quest.

To my Hindu peeps, Happy Diwali 2008.

Chiowz.

HOW
Entry by donation

Why attend this event?
In the last post I mentioned about how being in this city requires me to revamp and renew my perspectives all the time about things I'm passionate at and how I badly needed something fresh cause I felt so stuffy in this over-repetitious competitive environment...

This event is another answer to my woes as an KLite. Independent artist working together to create fresh insights into our lives by portraying their perspectives into their works.

Plus, according to the organizers, 'sponsored' flow of beverage from 9pm onwards. Drinks and arts do blend well. Trust me. Hehehe...

So head down to the event to escape those repetitious activities you will have at your favourite entertainment establishments.

For detailed info on the event and organizer, visit their blog HERE

Lets move on...

This post however, will not be an EDM/Party review. It's more of the other facet of the urban lifestyle. Cause the CoolerClubbers are a social group focused on events of various types.

And this post is focused more on the artsy fartsy fraction of the group. So the future review on Quattro, Lil Jon and Speedzone will still remain in the future.

Stay tune as the post after this one will be on...

Launch of Club Quattro @ Avenue K 17/10/08

The Godfather of CRUNK... Lil Jon launches Lollipop @ Mist Club (Bangsar), 17/10/08

BENNY BENASSI at Speedzone Tour 2008 (Moto GP), Zouk Club KL 18/10/2008

Past 12/10/08, we went to check out an exhibition of supposedly, Malaysia's premiere up market lifestyle exhibition...

Epicure Malaysia 2008 @ Sime Darby Convention Centre, Mont Kiara.

The exhibition

The venue. Hidden. Make sure to follow map.

Food products

Beverages... and plenty of sampling to lift your spirits

And sampling we did. I personally like wine and champagnes but my alcoholic palate still leans towards good whiskey and cocktails.

Candy making demo. Dandelion giving it ago.

Some on stage participation

And so... we end this sampling of finer things journey with a nice shot of how obliviously happy a child can be.

Unfortunately, we were not impressed on the exhibition. Better luck next year.

Nice...

On the same beautiful Sunday, 12/10/08... the afternoon after Epicure, Dandelion and I went to Yuna's EP Launch @ KLPAC. Now this was a gig.

The gig

Opening act... Sundae

Otam, local singer songwriter blues rocker.

Yuna

Yuna (closeup)

Yuna and the boys

Yuna?
New to the scene, this singer-songstress brings about a reminisce of great acts such as Sia, Alanis Morrisette, Tori Amos and sometimes when you really want to, you can hear Janis Joplin somewhere.

Heavily influenced by the same great acts her songs are symbolic and deep telling stories of love and friendship but still very easy on the ear.

In her Facebook, she describes her songs as...

"Best listened when you’re lying on grass in a quiet afternoon, your toes in the sand facing the ocean, or when you’re in the car watching trees go by."

This aspired singer was always in the room with music but only choose to pursue it in her late teens. She delivers her songs with such smooth international jazzy qualities that if you just heard it first time, you couldn't tell that she was from around here.

Personally, upon hearing her perform for the first time at Urbanscapes past June '08... I had that tingling Spidy like sensation. I only get that when I hear and appreciate something worth listening to. And in this highly saturated entertainment world we have nowdays, its good to hear such qualities coming from our shores.

Same goes to all local singer songwriters who disregards norms and just do what they want with vivacious audacity and ever-growing talent. That's the spirit.

Visit Yuna and her band at her Facebook & Myspace

Also received at the launch was the EP. 5 tracks. I wanted one or two more songs like Peer Pressure etc. But 5 is a good 1st attempt at an EP.

PS - I have been overworking the CD in my car. 5 songs, on and on and on... I want to know the lyrics by heart. To Google it would be to loose the essence of the feelings depicted in such songs.

Since there was only 250 people attended the launch, I want to thank izzalemonade for putting this up on Youtube for everyone to enjoy.

You enjoy ok... I know we did.

1st vid.

2nd vid. Nice song... Blue sands from the EP.

Crowd hit at every one of her sessions... Deeper Conversations

I know the vid/sound quality is not great, but I'm sure you Youtube/Google nation should know what to do. So search up!

Busy Saturday I have tomorrow. So enjoy your long weekend. Party hard and safe. May the force be with you.

And to my Hindu peeps, Happy Deepavali 2008!

Blogger's comment
The brand race is reaching higher speeds. Massive sponsorship means that allocations for such mass branding campaigns is getting bigger and bolder with obviously braver directives from top management.

No longer does VVIPs and people in the industry are really needed for opinion leadership.

No longer does event exclusivity closed for the average Joes.

No longer does the term 'I have connection' or 'I know the event people' really matters anymore.

And now, with many opportunities... the sky is the limit.

So get yourselves familiar with event brand names such as Freedom, SpeedZone, Hennessy Artistry, The Fun Starts Here, Heineken Green Room, Bacardi B-Live, 7aste and many more coming out from the wood works...

As they will get you there... and wherever there is, its definitely beneficial for everyone.

And as the race heightens in this ever growing and saturated market...

From an entertainment/nightlife event blogger, I wish you all the best.

PS - I need a piece of that pie. Mmmm... good.

Operation Octoberfest (23 - 26) ~ Go UNDER & INDIE with LIFECYCLE and DISKO DARURAT plus Hennessy Artistry (September '08) party review

Visit our new blog at www.thecoolerexperience.blogspot.com

As Dhaima would say it... Hola!!!

I'm back from the crazy OPERATION OCTOBERFEST 17-19 October party series. There was 4-6 'sponsored' parties and events around town. The CoolerClubbers attended 3 of them.

Here are the previews to those 3 'sponsored' parties and events attended scheduled to be up within the next couple of posts...

Launch of Club Quattro @ Avenue K 17/10/08. Zouk's challenger? Hmmm...

Lil Jon launches Lollipop @ Mist Club (Bangsar), 17/10/08

Quattro launch cut short cause Edmundo and I needed to get some CRUNK in our lives.

The Godfather of Crunk really knows how to party...

Speedzone Tour 2008 (Moto GP) @ Zouk Club KL 18/10/2008

presents...

BENNY BENASSI & Hernan Cattaneo

This is sooo...oooo...ooo...

Worth waiting 2-3 hours in line for 'sponsored' passes (I didn't cause I received my invites before the party) and then wait again to enter the semi-completed club (they claim "full house") for another hour.

I'm still recovering from the above PARTY-ATTACK to my system but I need to revitalise myself for this weekend's party series (23-26 October). As we are going UNDER & INDIE this weekend, so I have selected 2 main parties you should not miss.

Numero uno, one that I SHOULD NOT MISS AGAIN unless there is a LIFE threatening situation or if my human clock, the time CYCLE in my brain decides to screw me and put in slumber on the night this 25th...

The Epic Tribe presents...

EXTRA INFO
 18 and ABOVE ONLY
 Email - enquiry@epictribe.com
 thesuperglo - +60172394240
 Radzy - +60172933243

Why attend this event?
It's another installation of the ONLY psytrance party series around town. CoolerClub have witnessed this twice (PSYDTRACKED, 02/08/2008 & STRANGE LOGIC, 24/05/08) and we were not disappointed...

It was hard psychedelic trance all the way. It was madness I say... MADNESS. Hard thumping, head spinning, heart racing, bone rattling, feet screaming... the works.

So if you personally (or with friends) loves this niche genre of EDM in Malaysia but you have yet to found a suitable outlet to satisfy you psy/goa thirst...

I see you there. Best part is strictly NO FREQUENTLY-SPUN CLUB MUSIC at this gig!

Numero dos una la lista (Number two in the list), I feel the sense of emergency to disco. Wonder why...

The EMERGENCY FESTIVAL presents DISKO DARURAT Vol.2 - Satu Cinta Satu Ideologi! this 25/10/2008 @ The Annexe Gallery, Central Market Annexe

I had and still planning to attend the Emergency Festival (more info on festival at the end) and totally overlook this party up until a Wajahbuku message from Jerome Kugan appeared in my mail and it reads...

Subject: Reminder: DISKO DARURAT Vol.2 this Saturday!

Hi Disco People,

I know, I know... Simian Mobile Disco and something else at Palette Palate is happening this Saturday...

but if you're sick of scenestering and want to boogie down to a wicked selection of new and familiar tunes (from the likes of The Clash, Cut Copy, The Cure, Ladyhawke, Marvin Gaye, Toots & The Maytals, The Smiths, MIA, bla bla bla),

you know where to go. Bring your friends and party in an ideologically-liberated space! Can you do that in Zouk? I don't think so... heh heh heh...

And a very good reminder it was. Cause even at Benny Benassi's Speedzone gig, I felt abit underwhelmed by some tunes spunned cause its the same old same old remix/mix of pop EDM tracks.

Party info

WHAT
As part of Five Arts Centre's funky Emergency Festival at The Annexe Gallery, Jerome Kugan spins two nights of Disko Darurat, a mix of old and new songs dedicated to freedom, liberation and that sweet tender feeling of emergency.

WHO
Jerome Kugan is a Malaysian writer, poet and musician extraordinaire and with the right gear (laptop, CDs and software), he is also a playlist disc jockey.

WHEN & WHERE
25/10/2008 (Saturday), 10pm to 1am @ The Annexe Gallery, Central Market Annexe. (Its at the top floor of the building right behind Central Market, Can't miss it)

HOW
Admission is freeeee (or as I say it, 'sponsored')

Why attend this event?
First reason I can think of is because the party is a 'sponsored' dance-ish party done as a part of the very cool and uplifting EMERGENCY FESTIVAL.

Next reason would be that anything small scaled, close-knit, community-based, experimental, underground and independent party or event is a must go.

Because the longer you live in this metropolitan environment, you probably have experienced everything it has to offer to the general public. I got bored. Malls and eateries do not interest me.

Public parks and lake gardens are a kaki lepak and mat rempit's heaven, the museums are a monument to ruling party, art galleries are playing it safe and most night clubs offer the same attractions in the name of competition.

So ANYTHING off the beaten path is a breath of fresh air, cause I'm stuffy living in this city.

Abit of info on this COOLERIFFIC event...

EMERGENCY FESTIVAL! Thu 16 to Sun 26 Oct 2008 @ The Annexe Gallery, Central Market Annexe

Brought to you by the talented people of Five Arts Centre and its event partners, the EMERGENCY FESTIVAL! is an 11-day explosion of history, images, narratives and sounds from the first Malayan Emergency from 1948-1960.

For more info visit Five Arts Centre website http://www.fiveartscentre.org/ or call them at 03-77254858.

Now lets get Hen-tastic with a review of a past Hennessy Artistry event attended.

The "If That's Ok with You" highly coreographed and highly repeated dance moves

Nice and sexy... I want...

Well, all good things has to end. It has to end cause there is nothing I hate more than to get stuck in a die-hard fan storm frenzy. Devastating...

But I was surprised with the final song. With The DEY, they sang a Bob Marley classic hit.

Redemption to Shayne Ward. Nice...

And so... we end this post with a toast and glasses upon glasses of Hennessy VSOP on the rocks. May many more Hennessy Artistry events in the future.

Salute!

That's about it for now. And for those previews of Club Quattro, Lil Jon @ Mist Club and Benny Benassi @ Speedzone, Zouk KL... will be up soon (I'm drafting the post as you read this one. Asap...)

Chiowz and party on.

Crazy 2nd OPERATION OCTOBERFEST weekend (October 17-19).

Now lets do some reviewing. Cause I would like to blog this event for record purposes. It was a good party. It was upgraded to "a great party" with the tequila.

LAPSAP (KL) VS SEXINVADERS (DE) "A Private Puasa Special" @ Palate Pallete KL, 19/09/2008

The party

It was a cool Friday night and we were early...

In LapSap we trust!

So since it was early, we decided to head-start the party with some killer crazy 'motivation'

It was a killer...

And if you have partied at Palate Pallete... some 'motivation' might help you get trough the night. Nothing wrong with the ambiance. It's the space and ventilation.

Cool party props

Cooler...

Coolest!

It's cool cause we like 'em party-at-home feel lighting. No joke.

Now let the VS begin...

1... 2... FIGHT!

First comes the SEXINVADER (singular, only one guy)

Great set

Then we transition to the familiar local feel we all like.

No duo, 5ft. a.k.a Blink was missing.

It was only XU a.k.a Mr. Puah

Nevertheless... it was still rockin' good.

DJs who love their job

Now, some cool party peeps scenes at the party

The crowd

Borrowed from Jien's (www.jenkinyat.com) post on the party

Edmundo all hyped up!

Big bro James rockin' it out

Some wild dude trashing the party with a fire extinguisher. Note to organizer... THIS IS DANGEROUS!

Xu and some cool party ladies

Three crazy party dudes on a chair... tough chair man.

CoolerChicas, SueSue and Dhaima.

If u like the DJ, F**K HIM! (Does/Does'nt apply for PLU-based interactions...)

Cam gigoloing with some cool party peeps. If you know the CoolerClubbers, spot 'em. Also spot another established party blogger, Adli.

Jien and Josephine. They were partying way at the back.

For Jien's version of the party story, check out his cool witty blogpost HERE

Dhaima and Adli

For Adli Syahril's version of the party story, check out his party/EDM oriented blog HERE

That's all folks.

Party crazy but safe this weekend. Cause life is short and youth is a very energetic thing to waste.

Operation Octoberfest ~ BENNY BENASSI!!!, Wine Fest, Yuna the Songstress & NOTJUZMAG Soft Launch Party @ Maison Club, 13/09/08

Visit our new blog at www.thecoolerexperience.blogspot.com

The 1st OPERATION OCTOBERFEST weekend passed. CoolerClubbers missed

Nooooo... Oh why did we missed this party?

I had an interview for a job the next day, why did the other CoolerClubbers missed this? Will get to the bottom of this.

But we had a more exquisite and enlightening fun time (and not forgetting the SEA of wine samples) at

and

No wine here but it was also... a body-tingling, soul-reviving and superb first self-gig of Yuna as she had her EP launch last Sunday @ KLPAC.

Not forgetting Yuna's KILLER final song for her gig and good performances from Otam (u make me feel the blues) and Sunday (violin kicked it a notch guys, great stuff!).

For a guaranteed delightful singer-songwriter music experience, visit Yuna and her band here http://www.myspace.com/yunaroomrecords.

Ok, ok... I know this is definitely too late for a preview or an update, cause I believe this event is already in your event/party calender (if it's not than you're just in time for this late-preview) but I'm still going to do this...

BENNY BENASSI is coming this saturday!!!

as the next installation of the SpeedZone Party series is back.

The party

Party details

and if you know Benny Benassi (I believe Petaling Street and Sungai Wang stores overplayed his stuff) and Hernan Cattaneo, there is no way in this world that you should miss this.

Just register yourselves HERE and BE THE 1ST 200 TO BE AT THE VENUE and your SpeedZone party experience will be a FUN and 'SPONSORED' one.

Make sure you be there the EARLIEST of THE EARLIEST time you have ever been in a club before.

8pm... maybe 7.30. Well, at least you can take turns with your buddies and chill at the massive mamak nearby.

Or just have RM 50 ready for the cover and a couple of hundred bucks if you're planning to 'motivate' yourselves with the new Zouk beverage promo and packages.

Blogger's comment
I'm giddy with anticipation cause the last time BENNY BENASSI came to Malaysia was at UV Nation Malaysia, 09/06/2008 @ One Utama and it was rather disappointing for me.

DID NOT EXPECT tech glitches at one of the big raves. Plus, the space for the main arenas was a oxygen-less-death trap.

But I still have that event window sticker, just to remind me that there will be other Malaysian Benny Benassi moment. SpeedZone came and I can take it off now.

Check out what my friend Jien has to say about the event in his witty blog HERE (this is his old blog, the new one is www.jenkinyat.com).

Another thing is the 'sponsored' tickets for the 1st 200. Usually you would know if you won these things cause its a sure thing. Now you have to REALLY want it and be at the event early.

In my business part of the brain... it ponders on the good publicity stunt driven by such freebies. Definitely more than 200 will be there early and definitely those extras (a couple of hundreds maybe who will not the the 'sponsored' passes) will have to pay cover and hang around the venue early.

Great for sales of event and venue offerings. Great event motivation (as if Benny Benassi, Hernan Cattaneo, DJs Are Not Rockstars are not enough). NICE...

So see you guys there at the line up. I will be that guy ALREADY WITH AN EVENT PASS but still lining up early in support of my mates.

Make sure to smile too cause I'm also taking lots of pictures (smile to the big guy in black with the dSLR).

Check out Benny's latest electroish stuff from his Rock 'N' Rave 2008 album here

Benny Benassi - Rock 'N' Rave

Ok, let's get to some party review. Remember when I said I won RM 3, 600 at an event? Off course you don't. So let me re-lived that moment with you.

Won RM 3, 600 worth of slimming product. Where got cash... dang.

Because...

I had to do some freaky-funny stuff to win the prize...

I'm going to let the magazine do the explaining

Look at the corny speech-blurb I got

The mag's version of the event story

NotjuzMAG?
Our latest freely distributed lifestyle infotainment magazine.

October '08 issue

You can view the online version of the mag HERE

The soft launch took place at Maison pass 13/09/2008. I was there to cover the soft launch event, waited for the event to begin for bout 2 hours, got bored, was not motivated to stay but I did anyways.

Lucky to get something out of it.

The event

The reception

The cool display outside

The host, Prem from Fly FM. Very adaptable and knows the local crowd very well.

The stage

My supposedly on-the-house 'motivation'. Ok, I was abit 'motivated' to stay because of this.

Came at 8.30ish. Event kicked-off 2 hours later with dancers. Banner blocked us from having a great time enjoying the view though.

The launch

The longgg fun toast (I thought the yam seng would never end)

The fashion show from various Notjuzmag sponsors/advertisers. There was BUM, Forever 21, Soda etc.

The models final line-up

1 of 2 on-stage event games. 3 girls doing a cat walk to impress the crowd and win a couple of thousand bucks worth of slimming treatment each.

Then there was the on-stage game I participated

Let's just say that I danced INDECENTLY to win the prize.

The Chinese and Indian guy went abit further than I did. But it was all good.

Always at the end to keep the crowd at bay, the lucky draw.

That's bout it. I see you guys at the SpeedZone party. Let's get crazy...

Get back to this blog by, maybe Thursday for the next update on parties in this OPERATION OCTOBERFEST party series.

Operation Octoberfest ~ Lets 69, Bring It On, Supperclub & Circlesong "1 Year Late" Cast Party

Visit our new blog at www.thecoolerexperience.blogspot.com

I'm back!!!

What a festive-filled week I had.

  • 8 Days of Raya
  • 8 kilos of added weight due to the TSUNAMI of wonderful Raya delicacies and
  • 8 gruelling hours of travelling on the road from Negeri Sembilan to KL to Rawang to Cameron Highlands.
My arse is aching like hell... and I need some wholesome clubbing activities to loosen up my legs and get the blood flowing.

I know that I'm kinda late or even out-dated sometimes about party notifications and previews, but I assure you...

Detailed previews and detailed 'sponsored' opportunities to attend events and parties in this unHoly month of OCTOBERFEST!

So let's begin our OPERATION OCTOBERFEST with this weekends (10-12 October weekend) list of must attend 'sponsored' parties and events around town.

First up, Club 9 & SiX Lounge's Soft Opening 10/10/2008

I like 69, it's a nice position... of similar looking numbers. What do you think it was. Hahaha...

Quotes from the sponsor.

"Liberation begins on 10.10.2008. Housing a sexy vibe & delirious dance space, Club 9 spins up riveting beats & original performances. While chillout sounds of the SiX lounge cosies you up to captivating cocktails and intimate confessions."

WHAT
Club 9 & SiX Lounge's soft opening and they're inviting us over to heat up their virgin dance space at Club 9 & to share tantalizing cocktails with at the SiX Lounge.

WHEN & WHERE
Friday, 10/10/2008, 9pm - 3am @ Club 9 & the SiX Lounge 9, Jln Yap Ah Shak, (Asian Heritage Row), 50300

WHO
Club 9 & Six Lounge pres. DJ Snow Symphony (aka Nick Davis) & DJ Fendie. According to the organizers, they will squirt out funky, sexy, slutty tunes for the inner pole divas & podium queens in all of you!

HOW
Join their Facebook HERE to score an invite to the party

Why attend this event?
We love soft openings and club launches. They will showcase their very best behaviours and services, supposedly as a preview of what lies ahead. Honestly, quality control and customer service is a hard thing to manage.

So before you get shocked/pissed/blacklist any club you should always make time to check out their openings or soft launches. At the very least you should enjoy the planned event on the day and I'm sure the 'motivations' (drinks) will be on good price behaviour too.

Plus... As a member of the Club 9 & the SiX Lounge Facebook Group, you'll be on the guest list for the soft opening party and will receive a complimentary drink before 11pm.

Next up, on the same day... BRING IT ON (Take Off Records) "KL DnB Internet Radio" hosted by DJ Low & DJ Mac

Bring the Drum & Bass on!

WHAT
From the same people that brought to you Liquid Jump Up, Take Off Records brings you this preview party for the Loops Collective 9th Anniversary in November. It will be a night of mad DnB for die-hards, especially those who had been supporting Loops Collective and its events.

WHEN & WHERE
10/10/2008, 9pm @ Cloth & Clef 30, Jln. Changkat Bukit Bintang, KL

WHO
Hosted by DJ Low and DJ Mac of the KL DnB Internet Radio show @ www.krisisdnd.com every Wednesday 7-9pm.

HOW
No cover. But do register yourselves HERE to receive future Loops Collective events invites and notifications.

Why attend this event?
I love small scale, private EDM gatherings. Imagine it like an underground rock gig. It's all about the music. Appreciation of locally produced music spun by local enthusiast.

NO over-played club crap, NO product promo and advertising. Just good 'ol specific EDM. And in this party, a whole lot of downtempo, triphop, dubsteps, breaks and definately drum & bass.

LETS JUMP UP and BREAKBEAT!

Final party preview is another club launch party set sometime around this month

SupperClub Cafe Bar + Club Lounge Grand Opening @ Hartamas, 7/11/2008

The club

Party info

WHAT
Hartamas' latest cafe bar and club lounge, SupperClub its having its grand opening previewing their service, menu and entertainment.

It is unclear of the link to the famous supperclub chain around the world the likes of those in San Francisco, Amsterdam, Singapore etc. (visit them at www.supperclub.com)...

In general, another form of supper club is an American dining establishment generally found in the Upper Midwestern states of USA. These establishments typically are located on the edge of town in rural areas.

They were traditionally thought of as a "destination" which features a casual and relaxed atmosphere, where patrons would go to spend the whole evening, from cocktail hour to enjoying night club style entertainment after dinner. (Source - Wikipedia)

WHEN & WHERENew date for their opening will be this 07/11/08. Location of the club is Lot PT 4512 (PT 48672), Jalan 23/70A, Desa Sri Hartamas, 50480 KL. It's at the opposite of The Coffee Bean and Hartamas Square.

HOW
Get yourselves on the VIP guest list for the grand opening by registering HERE.

Why attend this event?
If... and I'm assuming its another outlet of the supperclub I mentioned earlier, than expect a really good time partying and enjoying fine dining at this reputable destination. As mentioned in their press release taken from Time Out Singapore...

"Dining in supperclub can only be described as a smorgasbord of explosive pleasures that is guaranteed to assault your senses. As you relax on your bed, dinner is served - but not as you know it."

"There is no menu, so choice is thrown out the window. Utensils may comprise of nothing more than a plastic glove, so decorum is also thrown out of the window. Be dazzled by an array of gastronomic masterpieces creatively assembled by the best culinary artists in the region, who hold the fort at the open concept kitchen where you can peek voyeuristically into their creation of pure art."

Heavy claims... check out Time Out Singapore's preview HERE and blog review HERE.

That is if it's the same chain. Even if its not, it claims to be off "A brand new international lifestyle concept" and you stand a chance to win fabulous giveaways at their grand opening night when you fill up and get invited.

So lets SUPPERCLUB! But...

This Friday night, I will definitely be party at

TWILIGHT ACTION GIRL VS. MR LAPSAP @ Palate Pallette

And to think that I had enough of the same shindig last month at LAPSAP VS SEXINVADERS, Private Puasa Party... I'm back for more.

As it is a private party, I will respect the request of the event organizer to not promote it. But stay connected at their Facebook HERE for future LapSap parties and how you can get yourselves on the guest list.

In 2-3 post from this one I will review that puasa party... Oh, how much fun we had(especially yours truly)

Ok, that's about it for party previews for the weekend of 10-12 October. Now lets do a review of a past party attended.

Circlesong "1 Year Late" Cast Party @ Nicholas' Pad, Cheras 06/09/2008

Circlesong? It's a experimental group singing, body percussions and human-made sounds project I did with the Philharmonic Society of Selangor in mid to October 2007. The final product of the project was 2 nights performances staged at The Actor's Studio Bangsar in Ramadhan last year.

Proudly, the show and I was featured in The Star newspaper (Yes, it was me and my '07 non-crime-based newspaper appearance). Shamelessly I request the interested reader to check it out HERE or HERE for the original article.

Usually, a cast party to celebrate and rejoice any show would have been done within days after the staging of the show. But, it got sidetracked somehow. The result was 'a year late' cast party for the Circlesong cast members.

The host, Nicholas Pang. You might have seen him in Tunku and Aladdin.

The centre one was the show's poster

Nicholas' pad

The party was a BBQ pot luck cum break fast (buka puasa)... Let's see some mid-artistic shot I took.

Big Apple Cheese doughnut... I like.

The BBQ

The BBQers

Some of the other cast members who were there. Clockwise from top> Shueh Miin 'the Tap artist', Woon Wee 'the tutor', Gordon 'the bass' and Wen Li 'our only The Phil rep' who came with Haagen Daaz (so all was forgiven)

The party

Pat, the lady with the brownies. We love 'em brownies.

DD (Circlesong's cam girl), Shuei Miin and Zalikha Batsheba 'drama drama drama'

That's bout it for now. Honestly, the small voice inside of me longed for the days when I can find another artistically inclined bunch like those I performed with in Circlesong. It was not just a performance, it was a new take on how I see the music world. The spiritual side.

Hope Melvin (our project artistic director) will be back from his journey and regroup this amazing bunch for another round of Circlesong.

For more future OPERATION OCTOBERFEST, October 2008 parties previews and reviews, drop by in 2 days or so.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend party ahead.
