hulla hulla..
P.Dandelion again reporting for CoolerClub!
Sorry for the delayed post... I have been busy traipsing around town... anyway...
The day was 17th May 2008, I have been bumming at home on that Saturday..
There were no plans on going to XLive as everyone was practically broke from the Freedom events. Basically it was a dreamy laid back family day until...
Cooler Sue called...
SCREAMING at the end of the line saying she got 4 tickets to XLive for FREEE!!!
Well.. she's working at ADIDAS.. and her boss got it.. didn't plan to go.. tickets ended up at Sue's hand!
As I was trying as hard as I could to process whatever I've heard.. I thought again.. it was only 4 tix.. only 4 Coolers could go.
Well... all the other Coolers had had their respective individual agenda; so we settled with Cooler(s) Edmund & Oliver for that extra 2 tix.
So 3 of us.. Cooler(s) Sue, Edmund & myself made our way to the top first as Cooler Ollie decided to catch up with us later on.
Since everything was done in a jiffy, we didn't have enough preparation.. I totally forgotten my sweater!!..
Without any accommodation.. and over excited for no reason plus Cooler Edmund was still lethargic from his week-long Bangkok business trip! Cooler Ollie remains undecided whether to make it to XLive.
We arrived around 8.30pm. After the agonies of finding the nearest and comfy parking as we could, we went to check out the venue and Cooler Ollie had to bail out due to personal matters. Thus, it triggered our great mind to sell off the ticket.

Surprisingly, the venue wasn't as crowded as I expected it to be. Unlike Freedom which manage to attract 15000 or so crowd.. I supposed.
The door-sale ticketing counter was scarce with only less than 5 people going in to purchase tickets at a time.

Our patience were tested when there's a lot of people selling off their tickets.. therefore it's hard for us to sell off our complimentary ticket. It seems that people are selling off their free tickets as well.
Tired faces from waiting and asking around for buyers
while waiting for buyers...
Cooler Sue took a pix of these people who are geared up with Adidas outfit from top to bottom. They are more than happy to posed for her..
Normal body check before entering to the venue, with happy faces.
WARNING:
The next and upcoming pictures that your about to view is from a not-so high quality camera phone that doesn't function well in snapping images at night and also recording video clips...
The XLIVE MAIN STAGE was the first venue we hit..
MALIQ & D'ESSENTIALS the Indonesian Jazzy-Pop group was on stage!!
They were really good..it made us drifted away for awhile by simply enjoying their music.

After a few songs from them, we moved on to the next stage...
The XL-TRONIC STAGE...

Honestly I wasn't quite sure who was on the deck during that time..the main person that I really wanted to watch is DJ Yoji..a Japanese DJ who was well renowned for his showmanship and his hard dance.
Therefore, we decided to walk away from the XL-TRONIC venue and to come back later.
The themepark was alive!
Deep down in me, I wanted try all the rides in the park but the other 2 Coolers wasn't down to play with me..
Their main intention was to be there for the music..
But in order to keep me at ease, they finally agreed to hop on to the 'cup-saucer' ride.
'not-so excited' faces
then...

getting the hang of it!
had enough of it...
We practically skipped the XLR8 STAGE..
It's because we can't seem to find the venue plus no one really took the initiative to really check out that particular stage. Experimental/indie/electroclash music wasn't really our cup of tea at that time.
We then headed to the exit to have our dinner..and while we were walking along the road outside, we saw an almost half-empty venue..
XLR8 STAGE
No doubt this was the stage that we didn't plan to go..it is quite saddening to see the turn-up over there although I think the performers over there deserve at least a little bit of support.
A CoolerClub outing wouldn't be fun without our ritual drinking session. Like CoolerFuzz says... it is our "motivation".

Ok these are only pictures of us 'camwhoring'..after all the phrase "the more the merrier" was pretty much what we were longing for
We basically spent quite sometime at the carpark and then went straight up to Coffee Bean nearby and sit down there for a chat while feeling abit dizzy from our 'motivation'...
While waiting for the famous MISSY 'MISDEMEANOR' ELLIOT!..
At the back of our heads, we were somehow aware that usually famous acts would be performing at the very end of the event.
We went into the XLIVE MAIN STAGE around 1.20am..it seems the crowd has increased since the first time we went in..
We can feel the heat, anxieties and agonies in every single person who were waiting for that famous superstar to appear!..
There were this two girls who looks like a journalist (holding a pen & notebook with dslr camera hanging around their necks)..said among themselves..that Missy E was supposed to be out around 11pm. I don't know how true was that.
We waited for another 15 minutes and
TADAAA......
MISSY E's dancers was out!!!
Everyone got excited, people were screaming and chanting her name on the top of their lungs!!!
She basically came out from a podium that risen up in the middle of the stage..

There she was..entertaining the crowd..
Her show'woman'ship was really great as she tries really hard to stay connected with her crowd from an unfamiliar country.
The familiar hit tunes like 'get ur freak on', 'gossip folks', 'lose control', 'pass that dutch', 'ching-a-ling where she had change the chorus to 'ringgit-to-da-ching' received a round of applause!!

Missy: "Is Malaysia is the hottest country in the world?
"The crowd: "HELL YEAHHH.."
One of her daring act was to go down from the stage to interact with her crowd who were seated at the back and she came back to the front by sitting on her bodyguard's shoulder while rapping on her hit "work it".

She was 2 feet away!
3 Of us was among the lucky bunch among the crowd who get very close to her (around 2feet away to be exact) while she was rapping her "work it" hit...so close that we almost touch her... {*teary eyed*}
It was a strong 30min performance by herself and not forgetting her powerful troop of dancers!..it was such a short time but it was worth to see such a dynamic performer performed at their best..(maybe).
Her performance ended with her crediting her dancers then she disappeared in the middle of the stage using her movable podium that went down below the stage.
We all assumed she's taking her private jet back home!!
Cooler Sue said Missy E looks hotter in her video clips..it depends on the individual I suppose..as my main concern was on how this well-known superstar perform.
The next big thing is of course
DJ YOJI BIOMEHANIKA!!
We rushed ourselves to the XL-TRONIC STAGE and there he was doing what he does best!
Honestly EDM is my cup of tea compared to hip-hop tunes, this is because I believe EDM tunes makes us become more in touch with our own imagination!! (if you are a hip-hop lover, don't trust me on this).
Everyone was getting crazy on the dance floor! and people got crazier when he played his new tune 'Techy Techy' while throwing out his cd's..and the other tunes that he played which I don't really care to recall as I was jumping up and down too!!
He is so energetic just like the tunes that he played.
This is what we called performer with eccentricity enjoying his boom to the max
I just love to see how he make the crowd moved and cheered by his unique performing style.
Another spunky performance from Yoji
It was already 330am but the people just wouldn't budge away from the XL-TRONIC stage, some were screaming for an encore from DJ YOJI..so the crowd's wishes was fullfilled and he continued until 415am.!!
Hard dance for several hours sure left us in a very confused state..but satisfying at the same time..
Overall, the X-pax event was a good one because it targeted different types 0f audience who likes different type of musical genre, maybe the last minute promotion didn't help much to gain awareness from their target public.
After enjoying ourselves with good music, it was time for us to call it a night and take a nap in Cooler Edmund's cosy car..
