I'm putting it up so that everyone will not miss it and so that their generous comments and time spent thinking and writing the comments are not waisted.
These were not edited.

Aaaaa…..
Negative comments filled with hatred and ridicule.
I knew I have to do this some day. Didn’t think it would be this soon.
Seen a lot of this during my short active involvement with human rights activism. People who do not really care but talk like they care.
They provide no points for positive open discussion, vents out at small parties and sometimes provides misleading facts.
So buckle up readers, this can get very ugly.
ISSUE 1: The protestRemember why some of us could not get to see Beyonce live in Malaysia like a year ago? I bet you do. No bootylicious time for us.
Apparently they say she caved-in after plenty of protest by several conservative groups, including the nearly 10,000-strong National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students, urging the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage to stop the concert from taking place.
Well, they succeeded.
Same goes to Gwen Stefani. She had to dressed up.
I believe not many of you know that around lunch time right after the Friday prayers last Firday the 9th of May, there was a protest set up by the local community including a lot of the local PAS people in Port Dickson.
According to my uncle (local resident of Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan) there were news going on about the protest in the local radio and rumours spread quickly about the protest which was monitored and controlled by FRU’s and the local authorities. Fortunately, it did not get ugly.
Guess what they were protesting about? Come on, I know you know the answer…
It was a protest following after a memorandum hand-over to the local city council.
“Mohamad Nor sebelum ini telah menghantar memorandum bantahan kepada kerajaan, yang turut mewakili Persatuan Penduduk Taman Aneka, Batu 9, Jalan Pantai kerana mendakwa permit hiburan menganjurkan pesta berkenaan telah dikeluarkan oleh pihak berkuasa tempatan dan minta ia dibatalkan demi kebaikan generasi muda.” (source – "Festival muzik jadi liar", Kosmo! Online 12 May 2008)
My uncle was kind enough to give me a heads up. He was concerned. Didn’t want me to get caught in the chaos.
In regards to protest and succeeding, I believe the ratio is very small. It didn’t work for Tiesto and plenty of other massive rave events.
Everybody has the right to freedom of speech and assembly, so let them do what they want.
To me, the thing that matters the most, the voice that is heard and the power that moves people is MONEY.
As long as there’s money to be made, there will be another party, then another... then another...
I hope these people are not that naïve to think that sponsors, organizers etc are in it for the music cause that would be a losing battle. But money… that’s a different ball game.
Capitalism rules the day.
ISSUE 2: My values, your values... our valuesMorality wise… as subjective as the matter to every person, I believe that in any situation, as long as man have the ability to think and feel, morality is an ever- changing matter.
What was unacceptable 20 years before could be normal today. Humans are very dependent on their surrounding to create cultures and beliefs. So, what can I do if today’s morality still demands us to conform. If today’s morality is so confusing that no visible lines can separate it. While one group promotes the other protess vice versa.
Muslims who promote freedom of religion (a.k.a right to apostate)… now that’s an issue. It’s even unconstitutional and against the law.
The only thing I’m deeply saddened is the sellfishness and disregards of other's beliefs and cultures. Should we ban things entirely because we want to protect ONE race. Is Malaysian culture homogenous and everyone is the same?
How can ONE race decide for the others without consulting them? Are their views, beliefs and values not valid?
If a ONE race can’t do it, the rest have to suffer… this does not sound right.
ISSUE 3: Who to blame? It’s getting a bit heavier now…
I’m not into blind politics, in particularly the ‘blame’ game. To me, they the government serve the people. So no parties or government bodies is above or better than the other.
PRM? PAS? Parti Rakyat?
What is this? How does their political inclinations have to do with this issue?
”
korang ingat asal pr menang je blh buek sesuka hati”
AKU TAK FAHAM NI. BUNYINYE MACAM ORANG TAKSUB KAUM. TAK BOLEH NAK TERIMA PENDAPAT ORANG LAIN. SUKA TUDUH MENUDUH.
ISSUE 4: Who do you work for Mr. Government?I love this part the most about the hatred-filled comment
”
skrg kerajaan dahtahu, sblm ni kecikx2 shj, tapi ni dah besar”
For those not wanting to understand broken-sms malay, I shall translate
“
Now, the government is aware, before this it was on a small scale, now it has grown/now it has become a big thing”
OMG, if this fellow only knew how many huge/massive/GARGANTUOUS
rave events there are per year. I think his/her head would explode.
I love this thing about people who do not research or try to gather some info before they comment…
makes my job easier
I believe that the government has always been open to new possibilities of expanding the political favouritism towards their side. Favouritism which includes making people happy. Let’s call it the “happy method”
The Happy MethodIn order to generate more of my people (dubbed degenerate youths by some sanctions) the government allows massive rave events. Because in the rave we find happiness and in our happiness the government finds new support etc.
This is apparent troughout the issue platform.
Mat rempits going on sky diving trips, festivals to promote current youth culture and off course, support for massive rave parties
To me, there are two types of support by the gov. Direct or Indirect.
On the top of my head there are two, but I bet with more research I can find more. The first is the Direct kind in which you can clearly see logos, officiating launches etc and the second one in the Indirect kind
Velocity KL Music Festival 2006 and
Indepen-Dance, Merdeka 2007, Putrajaya I leave you to judge.
ISSUE 5: Who do you work for Mr. Journalist? For those NOT in the media industry, it would be hard for them to grasp the concept of newspapers as a business entity.
Slash all the unethical journalism practices like gift taking, junkets, checkbook journalism, caving in to sponsor/advertiser's demands etc....
A newspaper makes MONEY from advertising. Simple as that. No amount of circulation can profit the newspaper. It's ads, ads and more ads...
Even when you can't fit more ads... you do advertorials.
I would really love to sleep on the bed of roses and think that newspapers nowdays are the voice of the people. To a certain extent they are. But again, CAPITALISM lurks in every corner.
You don't need me to tell you about the Malaysian media, I'm sure there are other more competent bloggers or sources on this info.
For 2 Days of Freedom, I can only show you this.
The Star newspaper published an article in page 4 (M4), Star Metro dated 12 May 2008
titled "Not your average party". The sub-headline reads " 30 youths detained for substance abuse at rave event in Port Dickson".
The article explains the negative impacts of the event and quotes views from Port Dickson local assemblymen, M. Ravi who condemns the event whole heartedly.
Read the online version
hereIn my oppinion this piece of news was strategically published on the Monday after the event as circulation was higher on weekdays.
Also in my oppinion is that the newspaper was acting out its public accountability to publish news which is of public interest and news that effect the public.
Nothing wrong there.
This article was followed up with
thisAnother article of the same flavour but stronger in their damnation of the event would be "Festival muzik jadi liar" (Music festival gets wild), Kosmo! Online 12 May 2008.
As Kosmo! is our local tabloid, sensationalism and human interest news are its main seller. What else can I say that have not been said in the headline.
I saw it, but chose not to read it. But you can read it
hereRemember I said earlier about newspapers being another business entity? The Star published
this on last Friday. The article headline reads "Beach blast for clubbers" (Metro, 9th May 2008 compiled by Jason Cheah).
If you did'nt click on the link but already guessed or know what the article was about... your a clever fellow.
It clearly supports and urges ravers and everyone else to go to 2 Days of Freedom.
I love this part of the article the most
Threatening to be one of the biggest club festival of its kind in this region, and with a stellar DJ line-up, the festival will feature top Dutch DJs Tiesto and Ferry Corsten sharing the limelight tonight.
See I told you newspapers are also a business entity.
Do not stop reading newspapers!
The reason I brought this up is because my dad, showed and read with me the article in the Star on that Monday. I'm lucky to have a dad who worries about me and does not blame me/link me to the issues in the article.
But I have heard some of my friends whom parents saw the article and
kena one hell of a scolding. I empathize.
My dad, worries more if I will be mistakenly taken down town by the cops and charged with frivilous things like indecent behaviour. Even worse if the local religuos enforcement agency who catches me.
If you didn't know by now, I'm the only Malay guy in CoolerClub. Kinda makes it harder for me don't you think... hehehe.
Conclusion
To sum this up, it would in the best interest of everyone, to just abide by the law. Morality is too deep and exhaustive to explore and debate.
DRUG = CRIME
ALCOHOL = CRIME if you drive or create other crimes
INDECENT BEHAVIOUR = CRIME in public areas
ENJOYING THE EXPERIENCE OF EDM = NOT A CRIME
As a matter of fact, I believe EDM is viewed by non-supporters in the same light as any other youth fad of non-local origin in Malaysia.
From disco to rock to black metal to hip hop... every generation has its music-lifestyle scape goats.
So if you love this silly piece of music, this craziness, this abomination... everyone one else does not understand you. Blames you for being a degenerate. Stops you from fullfilling your desire for EDM...
Be strong and may the force be with you.
I'm not interested in debate now days. I just wana have fun. That's why I choose to blog about events and parties instead of my personal life.
THANK YOU so much for reading.

PS – I was advised not to do this, better to ignore. But I personally believe in freedom of speech. Every open oppinion counts as long as it’s not tainted with malice. Plus, I’m still waitng for the rest of the pictures and videos of 2 Days of Freedom from the rest of the gang. Will post it asap.
