Future event ~ Xpax presents XLive Music Festival @ Genting Highlands, 17/05/08

Wuzzzuppp...

Since I'm busy studying and all... My brain have switched from CREATive to ANALytical. So I'm gonna use that ability to ANALyze the next event.

By the way....

2 DAYS OF FREEDOM TICKETS!!!

Just wana show how 800 bucks look like in the form where most asian parents would very much frown and disagree upon.

Anyways...

There will be a follow-up event (or shall I say COMPETING event) by another favourite event organizer... Pervert Designs

Does Recharge Revelation 5 Global Gathering sound familiar???

they organized it (oh what a MUDDYlicious time we had)

Apparently they're kinda concern bout how people were upset because the people were not told in advanced that it will be MUDDY... Khvn got this bit of gossip upon chatting with one of them. At least they were concerned.

if they had warned in advanced, then EDM lovers would have dressed appropriately, like those partying at the real Global Gathering (they had phua chu kang boots and all)

They also organized the other 4 Recharge Revelation series

Recharge Revelation @ Genting Highland March 2003 (Malaysia's first true clubbing experience)

Recharge Revelation 2 @ Genting Highlands July 2004

Recharge R3velation 3 @ Port Dickson, August 2005

Recharge Revel4tion 4 @ A'Famosa Resort, Malacca October 2006

and now, after a LOOOONG absence of a mountain-top based massive rave events, Genting Highlands has opens it doors once again so we can PARTY

the last event was 2 years ago. It was Chivas presents Destination: Space May 2006 which sadly was ended abruptly by the organizers (for what ever reason, YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT... come on its event brand image 101)

Enough lamenting, let's get back to XPAX presents XLIVE MUSIC FESTIVAL

Event details

there will be three open-air arenas and plenty of things to do as you would be partying at the site of the Outdoor Theme Park

Not sure if they'll serve quintessential beverages, but I'm sure they'll be a counter or two

2 Parties..1 Night! Re-imagining the City @ Zouk & Launch of Micro @ Baroque, 5/4/2008

Posted by Khvn van buuren

Holla...

This is my first post in the cooler blog so I’m pretty excited. It’s a real honor to be part of the Cooler community and I thank the fellowship for all the good times. This post was due last week but it got delayed, anyway here it is.

It was a very calm Saturday night. There were 2 ‘free’ events going on at the same time. The first event was Re-imagining the City @ Zouk and the second was the launching of Micro @ Baroque. (It’s in front of Maison at Heritage Row.) Being our nature of attending free events we decided to check it out.

Only 3 Cooler dudes were available to party the night away. The rest were busy with the Ching Ming festival during that weekend and hectic exam schedules. But its okay as most of us cooler clubbers are really anticipating one of the biggest rave’s ‘ever’ in the history of dance music the country has ever seen. 2 Nights of Freedom is just around the corner and so far most of us are confirmed for the event. Another post on Freedom will be up soon to further enlighten us.

A brief intro to the night’s events…

Re-imagining the City at Zouk KL.

The Role of Artists in the Shaping of Cities

Presented by the British Council with acclaimed UK cross-media outfit onedotzero and KLue magazine, Re-imagining the City is an audio-visual project exploring how artists are both influenced by, and can help shape, cities, through the use of digital and other emergent technologies.

Re- imagining The City comes alive with Surface, a collaborative, on-going audio-visual work between London based D-Fuse and local creatives Altered Image, Blastique, Ahmad Fariz Hanapiah and Nazim Esa. Come view the city through their eyes and ears in a trademark D-Fuse immersive sensory experience.

source: British Council Malaysia

Launch of Micro at Baroque.

Organized by Pervert Music (RR5GG organizers), the launch of Micro at Baroque brings together Germany's DJ Lo-Soul and our own DJ RaySoo for a very special edition of Hotel Scandalos where two DJs in one venue, dish their sentiments on how music should be.

For full event and DJ review please head to http://micronights.blogspot.com/

CoolerClubber’s for the day were Oliver, Gd and Kvhn. We headed out to Zouk first to see if we could smuggle in Oliver as he’s still part of the ‘youth movement’. A pleasant surprised awaited us as there wasn’t anyone checking id so after grabbing our free drink tokens and UV smudge we headed in. Lucky Ollie was excited as it was his first time into our favorite club.

Sponsor’s galore - British Council, Klue and Heineken

Cool Ninja Bouncer…

We were greeted with huge screen projections in the main room. D Fuse and co. were on the decks mesmerizing the crowd with their audio, visual creativity.

City Traffic in hyper motion

Checkout the video’s at the end of this post.

D-Fuse has traveled to many countries in Asia as well.

The crowd was awestruck by the stunning visuals. The VJ’s did a good job.

After an hour we decided to checkout the other event so we then headed to Baroque. The streets were pretty empty, maybe due to the Ching Ming festival. Baroque was launching its own Saturday special, Micro. The club doesn’t charge cover and the drinks are reasonably priced too.

The event was held upstairs. The ground floor had nothing much except for a bar and lots of empty seats.

The music was good…

RaySoo playing to himself…

Cozy atmosphere

We didn’t stay long in Baroque so we missed DJ Lo-Soul in action. RaySoo played some good stuff and we met some people from Pervert Music. Their office is just next to Baroque. We even told them we had a muddylicious time at RR5GG* and they were very apologetic and told us to look forward to future events coming up soon.

One of it is XLive Music Festival 2008 on the 17th of May at Genting outdoor theme park! The DJ lineup is good but the festival is a week after Freedom and I don’t think we’ll be financially sound to attend this event after 2 days at Port Dickson.

Check it out http://www.xlivefestival.com/

We headed back to Zouk where MASH was in full force.

Mash!

Ollie and Gd gulping free booze

Looking forward to 2 Days of Freedom!

The crowd started to dwindle after 2am.so we decided to call it a night. Cooler Gd managed to get some rare shots of the twin tower’s lights shutting down.

1... Gd night..

Overall it was a fun filled adventure for the Kepong dudes. Although we ran out of juice, we still had plenty of 100 Plus and bread to keep us going. But we really missed the cooler box and its heavenly contents, plus you guys as well!! Hope to catch you’ll at Freedom Fest.

Looking forward to the next event, CoolerClubber’s Unite!!

Adios…

SpeedZone Tour 2008 @ KL Tower 22/3/08... Part 3 - Madness

Finale...

While we were carpark boozin and procastinating (Part 2), we missed the second opening act Gianluca Fuchile and Jon Carter... well, they'll be back someday.

Nevertheless, when we were ready to party... we found our SPOT... and we were in the middle of a massive raving madness...

MATT HARDWICK was playing his set!!!

WARNING.

WHAT YOU'RE ABOUT TO SEE NEXT MIGHT DISTURB YOU (ONLY IF YOU MISS THIS PARTY)

AND REMEMBER... ALWAYS WARM UP BEFORE YOU RAVE. IF YOU'RE NOT FIT, NEXT TIME EXERCISE

EXCESSIVE PARTYING MADNESS AND GALLONS OF SWEAT AHEAD.

Smokin'...

It was Matt-ness... veteran DJ, knows how to please the crowd

The MADNESS!

DJ moving the crowd with his music (front view)

DJ moving the crowd with his music (view from behind)

More MADNESS!

Look at whos popped-in early to prepare for his set

CoolerChicas

The transition

DJ Joey G>> Tribal genius... On the decks... MAURO PICOTTO!!! (he said something similar to this, can't recall exact words)

Playing his electrifying tribal. The crowd went wilddd...

and wilder by the moment

DJ Joey G>> .............. .............. ..............!!!

(this is what I heard out of him as the music of Mauro Picotto was too intense... it blocked everything else from entering the brain)

It rained again... this time its RED

No words can explain what we felt that night. It was our out of this world, trance-a-riffic clubbing moment so far...and it's only the first quarter of 2008!

Maybe this can help, it's something I manage to record

(there's a pleasant surprise at the end of the clip)

Talking bout video, even The STAR newspaper came and covered the event

(Source: The Star Online via Youtube)

Other things that went on

Playing games and winning SpeedZone merchandise

Cool F1 simulator... not sure if any CoolerClubber went for a ride

SpeedZone>> Please key in your particulars so we can update our database and SPA_ you (sounds like ham)... Ooops... so we can update you (joking only, don't sue me for libel)

Notice the MINERAL BOTTLE in her hand and the one passed to her. It's not mineral and water inside.... *hehehe*

Smuggled into the party was an 'unhealthy' concoction of vodka and lime juice, we had 4 bottles in...

She drank one bottle...

I think she had went pass her 'Juice' treshhold...

then she went abit further...

and a bit more further till

Uwerkgh.... werkgh... werkghhhh....

While walking toward the exit stopping midway as we received a plastic bag from a good party samaritan

After everyone chilled and settled down, they LEFT ME, went back to dance floor and continued to have a really good time. They stayed till the party was over.

I was left behind because...

I passed out...

It was an awesome experience, one we'll never forget.

Unless we had memory loss due to excessive alcohol consumption... *hahaha*

See you party animals and EDM loving maniacs at the next party.

Party first, blog later...

Chiow.

SpeedZone Tour 2008 @ KL Tower 22/3/08...Part 2 - Procrastinating

Posted by P.Dandelion

Hulla..hulla.

P.Dandelion here..I'm picking up what Fuzz had left-off.. (Part 1)

We went back to CoolerFuzz's place to freshen up and filling up our empty stomach, putting on fresh clothes and touching up our makeup (for the girls)...

Kvhn and Gd was so mesmerized to be in CoolerFuzz's home..(CoolerFuzz is perceived as the President of CoolerClubbers)...therefore every words that came out from their mouth was...

"this is where the president lives &......"
"this is the president's....cat...bathroom..family photos..dining hall..etc.."

In the meantime CoolerFuzz was preparing his killer punch for his test "mice"

When a person is at their comfy level..in a homely ground..they tend to get too relax..

It was what happened to us that night..

We were like this!!!!
Sipping on CoolerFuzz killer punch, eating chocolates and watching a good movie on tv.

Everyone seems forgotten that there's a massive rave going on at KL Tower..

Until Kvhn forcefully made us lift up our lazy buns into the car..

Onced we reached the venue, we parked strategicly because a party wouldn't be a party without our drinking session tradition...

Parking lot fun L-R: Gd, Kvhn, Sue & Ollie

(By the way..can you guys see that beautiful little baby in Kvhn's hands?? Glorious rite?!! )

If you guys have no idea what's the history behind this 1.5ltr Belvedere..

Check out our Belvedere 1 & Belvedere 2 post..

Everyone was facinated by it...

My Preciousss

Yay!!!! We won!

Big GULP!!

How could we forgotten about our heavenly fruity punch prepared by our "in-house" mixologist.. CoolerFuzz

Belvedere vodka+orange juice+pineapple juice+fruity chunks(plums,pineapple,apple)...

Isn't that heavenly?

Ok..some may say above picture is cute (I think he is)..some may say "what the hell??"...The answer would be..this is the way to perk yourself up by putting chilled vodka shots on the cheeks.

Briefing session before we rock the party..

The reason why we do it our selves... no amount of RM 12 beer will satisfy our THIRST

As we were making our way to the tower, HowZan called my phone saying that he's on his way walking up towards us..Without any tickets or invitation, he came just to see us (i'm touch).

While we were figuring how to get Howzan and Ching Yin in the venue, smart Kvhn saw a pair of loose wrist tickets on the road..

Picture here, L-R: Howzan already has it on his wrist, Ching Yin is waiting for Kvhn to put the ticket on her wrist.

The question is..the normal wrist ticket is in white but then the one that going to be wrap around Ching Yin's wrist would be black. I wonder...we kept our fingers cross on our way up.

Group Snap.

Unfortunately Ching Yin's wrist ticket (special black color) was actually a staff pass.. :(

Ended up there's no party for Howzan and his girl...anyway that was really a daring act..you're the man!

We'll party another day

As we left them at the entrance, we were greeted by hordes of clubbers and the party was on FULL THROTTLE...

Under the 5th tallest tower in the world..where the party begins

Where the crowd had gone from sexy to sweaty and the funky to spunky...

So far, we had been trough alot (alot of vodka..hahaha) and...

we went for our toilet break before the 'real deal' .

Stay tune for the final episode....

SpeedZone Tour 2008 @ KL Tower 22/3/08... Part 1/3 - Drenched!

Wuzzzuppp...

For blogging, procrastination and preparing for exams is my worst nightmare. I'm like juggling so many things right now, I should be in a circus.

Nevertheless, I'll be taking over P.Dandelion for this post. Maybe its good to make a point to the CoolerClubbers (especially to myself!) to post a week after the party/events so that no huge activities gap are present.

Wait until my exams are over and I'll post non-stop 24/7. Hahaha....

Now, lets channel all of this built-up angst and stress by talking bout an event attended.

Bout 3 weeks ago, there was this big fuss about this huge rave party on top of a hill.

On top this hill was a huge tower.

On this tower, a MASSIVE F1 PIT PARTY called SPEEDZONE TOUR 2008 was held past 22 March

On the day of the event, during the hours of ticket collection or purchasing... the months of eager anticipation was greeted by a long down pour courtesy of mother nature. For the sake of complimentary tickets, we braved the storm (oh such a lie... no storm but it drizzled non-stop)

For the tickets...No pain, no gain

CoolerClubbers who attended the event was P.Dandelion, Sue, Shereena, Khvn, Gd, Ollie, myself and we were later visited by HowZan and his girl.

The CoolerClubber who had to exchange hand phones, borrowed complimentary invites, changed identity with his twin, falsify identity card reference and slow-talk his way to get his FREE-free complimentary ticket was the AMAZING KHVN. He did not receive the complimentary invite but manages to get one. You the man!

Also, the event did not promise a practice in patience and humility, because everywhere you look there was

Queing up...

more queuing up...

even more queuing up before entry

Well... I was looking for more consideration on behalf of the event organizer as it was raining non-stop. There should have been a contingency plan. Moving the ticketing counter or covered queuing area. But what do I know, I'm just a small EDM blogger.

Fully drenched and chilled to the bones we managed to enter the venue. We love to get a preview of the venue. Get the early 'feel' of the ambiance and plan for best positioning for later party-considerations.

Wet, wet, wet

Before we reached the main arena, I saw this magnificent being...

di una bellezza indescrivibile macchina (Indescribably beautiful car)

un'glorioso e splendido auto da corsa...un'macchina dà ottime prestazioni (A glorious and splendid racing car... A car that performs well)

Don't mind the broken Italian but F1 cars are the BOMB! I'm always mesmerized by the sheer exuberance of this machine...even if it's a replica.

Let's get back to this pre-event post.

Joey G was trying his best to warm up the crowd, but he was no match to mother nature. So he played the early opening set to an almost empty dance floor.

One of Malaysia's best

Still early for a crowd on the dance floor...

In support for the organizer

Group photos are a must

This picture depicts how drenched a person could be after the above ordeal

Up to this point, we were driven solely by excitement generated by my pre-event interview with Matt Hardwick.

But we were not in any condition to party at the time so all of us regrouped and went back to my crib to recharge and to return later, hopeful for a good party.

To be continued...

Back when... James Zabiela and we partied like 'gila' (mad)

Wuzzzuppp...

Been busy this couple of weeks. I'll be graduating soon. No more classes. No more exams. Maybe a massive party is in order. We'll see.

In this fortnight's Back when... we will go back in time and celebrate the last of the Speed Zone party series of 2007.

James Zabiela (UK), Speed Zone Tour 2007 World's Grand Prix Champions Party @ Zouk, 29/12/07.

James Zabiela, ranked no.17 in world brought with him to Zouk his unique musical style infused with great music from various genres.

James Zabiela's background

"A technical wizard and with a love of all things sci-fi, James Zabiela is at the forefront of new DJ/production talent smashing the glass ceiling of the global superstars. He's played to a room full of suited Japanese businessmen when showcasing Pioneer's latest equipment, in front of 60,000 people in South America and just about every imaginable situation in-between. From the beginnings of winning a bedroom DJ competition to Sasha personally signing James to his UK DJ agency Excession, things have skyrocketed.

Armed with his fully loaded laptop, effects units, CDs and other box of tricks, James has created his own place on the scene. He holds residencies at Space-Ibiza and Pacha-New York and had successful compilations released on Renaissance as well as EPs and singles. Following the success of his previous singles, 'Robophobia' and 'Weird Science', Zabiela released his latest single 'Human' in July 2007.

In February 2007, Zabiela teamed up with Nic Fanciulli to create One One, a 2xCD mix compilation featuring stellar track selections as well as new songs produced by Zabiela and Fanciulli. With the likes of Sasha, Royksopp and Depeche Mode calling upon him for remixes, Zabiela's 2006 re-rub of "Seal Clubbing" by Charlie May vs Sasha spent several weeks at #1 in both the Beatport and DJ Download sales charts.

In 2007 he was awarded the Best British DJ at the DJ Mag Best British DJ Awards and ranked #17 in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Poll. James Zabiela will release a new 4 track EP of all original material titled Perseverance EP on 10 December 2007."

(Source: Clubbing9.com)

Also present was DJ Joey G to warm up the crowd.

The organizer gave away 500 invites for the event and every other CoolerClubber got it besides me (why is the world so cruel...).

Dahlia had an invite but was feeling unwell to party. I was well and needed an invite. She came and saved me. Super Dahlia to my rescue. She had a few shots with the boys and went back home to party another day.

It was Boy's Night Out for us. And when there are no girls to take care off, the boys went WILD (don't take it wrongly girls of CoolerClub... we adore you guys and would loved nothing but to party with all of you)

and...

Testosterone and male machismo (excessive masculinity) ruled the night. Add some andrenaline and alcohol to the mix and we got a bunch of guys who partied their hearts out.

Technical genius, James Zabiela on the decks.

Zouk mainroom's transformational effects towards performing DJs and the clubbers. They'll smoke you out. How does 'Tear gas' sound like???

James Zabiela played to a packed house at Zouk that night. On the night they got the ambience right. And the crowd was on speed... Zone spirit.

Event video

Part 2

From left> Kvhn Van Buuren and Edmund

From COOL to CORNY

Dancing 'mau' (want), take picture 'tak mau' (don't want). Some of our victims for the night. By victims I mean gracious and kind ladies who danced with us. Hehehe...

Best part of the party. Shots till you drop. Nothing but shots. Can't remember the 'Juice'. Should be Chivas. This video clip has some of the best (and worst) behaviours of CoolerClubbers during the drinking sessions

Caught on cam... CoolerClub 'Juice' drinking session

Music-driven ecstasy...

I'm out...

That's it for this fortnight's Back when...
