March CoolerBabies Birthday Bash '08 @ Sri Chempaka Service Suites, 15/03/08

March Babies Party

By Cooler Sue
Post author - CoolerFuzz

The most anticipated party of the year as it was dedicated exclusively to me (Sue; 7/3), the twins Kvhn & Gd (19/3) and Edmund (31/3) because we are the Cooler March Babies!!

Cooler Sue

From right: Edmund, Sue, Kvhn & Gd

Cut and Blow

Mmmm... Good

We rented an apartment at Sri Chempaka Service Suite, Cheras which has stunning view of KL.

No “JUICES” No Party!

Lemon and mint for Sue's Mojito Delight

Juice list

Bacardi Limon
Gordon London Dry Gin
Smirnoff Vodka
Johnie Walker Swing
Belvedere Vodka Magnum (1.5 liter)

Punishment beverages

Skorpio Vodka (with actual scorpion inside)
Cheap local vodka (game punishment vodka)

Our birthday cake was freshly baked by P.Dandelion sweetie! I’m so touched ~Muackz~

The cake is simply irresistible! Trust me…Kvhn said “The icing taste so good, almost better than those sold outside”.

Presentable and delicious

Sweetie P.Dandelion

We played 2 drinking games;

First, the Q&A games. Only the birthday babies were asked to questions from a box. Whoever failed to answer or deem to be dishonest, Punishment: Gulp a SHOT!

For those who missed the party, here is the recap of several questions:

Which celebrity do u fantasized to sleep with? Why?
Gd: Jessica Alba because she has big BOOBS.

Describe your worst date
Kvhn: Went out on a date at the waterfall with the girl’s family members present.

What is your favourite pet? Why?
Edmund: Fish because it eat and shit at the same place. Easy to clean...

What is your favourite body part?
Sue: My ass because I don’t inherit ordinary Chinese flat ass. Thanks to my mom~

Secondly, THE CARD GAME (which requires lotsa lotsa drinks!).

The suck & blow card!

THE CARD GAME in motion

Everyone's vision after about 2 hours of THE CARD GAME

Coming to the end of the game, almost everyone was swinging and got down to their feet!

Drink, Drank, Drunk!

Last but not least, Vishnu’s PUKE INCIDENT which got almost everyone back to their feet to clean the mess!

This is what lead to the horrificly stupendous incident. Not the best of the CoolerPemuda. Still need to develop his 'Juicing Skills'.

Artistically disgusting!

I want to thank every CoolerClubbers for attending and throwing this fantastic party.

A big thanks & hugs for you, Fuzz and P.Dandelion ~Muakz~

Till then, see u all at the next event. I love you all :)

Additional Material

CoolerFuzz here. Wuzzzuppp...

I felt compel to not waste pictures taken during the party as every picture tells a story. Plus, depending on personal 'Juice' intake, everyone has a distorted memory of the party. I, myself remember only bits and pieces after the drinking began...Good party.

So I shall add a few more things.

Ollie came too late....I rephrase, he came just in time to witness the incident and be apart of it. He left the party with 'fond' memories...

Ollie and his friend came late as they were from Sunburst Music Fest (P.Dandelion made RM 300 by selling her tickets... easiest moolah she ever made). Not only did he got elbowed at the music festival, he also left the party the next day socks-less due to the puking incident (see vomit image above, focus on the shoes in the image because its OLLIE'S). Poor guy.

Before the party started, Kvhn and his brother enlightened us with their lighter's laser-pointing ability to transform the room into a disco dance floor. Good job!

Only the best and exotic ingredients for CoolerClub. Strawberries, Kiwi, Watermelon and Lemon

Ok... this picture is to glorify at my accomplishment to create a damn good punch. 2 parts mixers and juices and 1 part vodka which you will never taste as I was able to mask it funktabulously. I'm a happy man.

Future event ~ Re-imagining the City @ Zouk, 05/04/08

Wuzzzuppp...

Fewh... one hell of a month. We had

  • the monthly birthday bash a.k.a games and 'juice' till you drop

  • Speed Zone Tour 2008 pre-event interview with headliner Matt Hardwick

  • Partied crazily at Speed Zone Tour 2008, KL Tower last Saturday 22 March (will post soon)

So, for the rest of April we are going to take it easy. Need some R&R to get ourselves ready for TIESTO in PD!!!

Found another 'sponsored' event. This time its...

Re-imagining the City @ Zouk, 05/04/08 by British Council Malaysia

Weird event sponsor. Nevertheless, its one that we should check out. Plus, I miss Zouk sooo much. My eyes waters-up every time I think about it.

This event is to promote the role of artists in the shaping of cities via various media platforms. According to their website

"Presented by the British Council with acclaimed UK cross-media outfit onedotzero and KLue magazine, Re-imagining the City is an audio-visual project exploring how artists are both influenced by, and can help shape, cities, through the use of digital and other emergent technologies. Explore this with us through a programme of audio visual performance, screenings, workshop and debate."

The night's performance is titled "Surface - live audio visual performance"

Event details as follows

Date - Saturday 5 April 2008
Time - Doors open at 8.30 p.m.
Venue - Mainroom @ Zouk KL
Admission - Free before 10.00 p.m. – club rules apply.

An event will always be better than normal clubbing. I personally expect a good performance. Maybe some goodie bags etc.

As always, the point of going is to enjoy the event and to extend our stay in Zouk till after the event as the night's weekly attraction will be MASH

What's MASH, Saturday nights @ Zouk Mainroom?

Leonard T and DJ Blink mash em’ up in style, bringing you the best music from our Ghetto Heaven and Mambo Jambo music libraries and mash it up with the biggest club anthems and blend it up for you into a smoothie of non stop dance rhythms. (Source: http://www.zoukclub.com.my/)

Set your schedule and see you at Zouk this 5th April.

Event first, blog later. Chow.

Exclusive ~ Online Interview with Matt Hardwick (UK) - SpeedZone Tour 2008

Coming back to our shores this March 22 is Matt Hardwick, Progressive Trance DJ, ranked No. 48 in the 2007 DJ Mag’s “Top 100 DJ’s poll”. He will be headlining in front of thousands die-hard Malaysian clubbers, beside Mauro Picotto (ITA) and Jon Carter (UK) at Speed Zone Tour 2008, KL Tower.

Globetrotting DJ, Matt Hardwick hails from the UK, where massive outdoor raves are MASSIVE and where the trance movement has continuously grown throughout the years.

A veteran in the scene, Matt has played in front of huge crowds whether it be in front of 28,000 people on New Years Eve 2000 at Don Valley stadium gig or 15,000 people at the amazing Gatecrasher NEC events.

Formerly associated with the UK phenomenon “Gatecrasher”, his career exploded into the global awareness when he left to debut his own career back in 2004. Till today, he has reached the world with his music at the likes of Godskitchen and Passion, and further enjoys successful tours throughout Asia, South America, Australia, Africa, Europe and the USA.

CoolerClub has been given the opportunity to do pre-event interview with Matt. Let’s check it out…

  1. As a veteran in the industry, in your opinion, why has trance music endured? Is the scene still healthy?

Very much so. Granted downloading has hit the industry hard, the live experience of dance music is alive and kicking. Clubbing at the moment is very healthy and when you look at trance as just one element of that you can see the strength the scene still has. From big festivals like Global Gathering and Creamfields to arena events like Trance Energy and Sensation White, Trance is heavily prominent at all, which is strong signal our scene is in full health

  2. Where do your musical influences come from?

From the strange noises that you hear in sea shells when you pick them up ;)

  3. Tell us how it was like to be with Gatecrashers for over a decade. How have you grown from your earlier days with them up to the day you left?

The experience was incredible. Being part of the crasher movement was a great learning curve and gave me so much. But like anything in this world there comes a time to move forward. I still hold a great relationship with the club and its clubbers and return frequently, as a headlining guest, to play for the club. I will be playing again for them at this year’s Gatecrasher Summer Sound System.

  4. Tell us about the best show experience in your entire career and the biggest records you have played with the best response.

Playing the sell-out Don Valley stadium for Gatecrasher in front of 28000 people on New Year’s Eve 2000 was by far the biggest gig experience to date. I have many amazing gigs in my life but this one meant, and still does, so much to me. Even remembering the gig gives me Goosebumps haha! On the record tip, Paul van Dyk’s – For an Angel was a record that would (and still does) ignite a dance floor from Birmingham to Sydney. The impact of this record at the time was truly phenomenal - a true anthem.

  5. Tell us about your forth coming productions. Anything to expect in 2008?

I have a track out called ‘Fallen Tides’ which is a collaboration between myself and Mark Pledger. It’s basically "Connected" circa 2008. The reactions have been fantastic and i’m confident it will be a big tune for the summer months. Following this i have my first solo production coming out shortly..check out my website for more info on the release date.

  6. What is the best thing about the DJ lifestyle?
For me it has to be the travelling. Whilst the amount of time spent in airports can become quite a drag at times, the privilege of seeing the world and its many cultures far outweighs any long delays in airports.

  7. As a globetrotting DJ, compare your experiences doing Asian gigs to the ones back at home?

The KL crowd are an exciting crowd to play for. I’ve been here a few times in the past and I think that the crowd is a proper party crowd. The atmosphere is always amazing when I’ve played and that really inspires me. Back home i have a long relationship with a lot of my audience, which can sometimes be quite tough because they pick up on small details. Where the British work best is in a muddy field in the summer, the UK crowd are built for festival dancing!

  8. For the upcoming Speed Zone Tour 2008 at KL Tower gig, playing alongside superstar DJs Mauro Picotto and Jon Carter, what were your initial thoughts about the gig?

Pure excitement! It’s a really honour to be invited to headline the gig alongside Mauro and Jon, I’ve played alongside both djs before but never at the same time so should be really good fun. I’ve heard many fantastic stories about previous gigs and I know KL well, all in all i can’t wait to come over!

  9. What are you looking forward to when coming to Malaysia?

The race day. I’m a fan of motor sports, so really looking forward to seeing the cars.

  10. How do you describe the ‘Matt Hardwick’ experience?
At this particular – something very special (and fun) ;)

  11. Lastly, The Cooler Experience is all about being cool, hip and updated. How do you describe ‘cool’? What is cool to you?

Samuel L. Jackson! The man oozes super cool.

CoolerClub thanks Matt Hardwick for the interview. We will see you at the party!

Launch of Belvedere Ice Bar, Asian Heritage Row, 27/2/08 (Part 2)

Let’s recap on what happened in Part 1

1. went to exclusive party
2. drink…drink… and drink some more
3. P.Dandelion entered contest
4. I made a fuss about the GRAND prize

Picking up from where we left off, the following are scenes of a girl, in her tipsiest of moments trying to be cool and react to a situation

With all the celebrities surrounding P.Dandelion and after the short performance from Ash Nair and DJ Blink, MC Serena C started the contest.

I was a bit worried about P.Dandelion. She was in no condition to answer trivial questions or perform contest-like activities. But at least she was unsoberly brave…

Serena C proceeds with the contest, one question wins all. Fuhhh… (wiping forehead)

The question was, “What is Belevedere vodka made from?”

Deng..deng…deng…

Not the hardest of questions. Answer was in the promotional booklet we regretfully forgotten to browse trough due to other priorities (gulp…gulp…gulp, ahhh. nice cocktail)

Look at the picture on the right, pay attention to the male celebrity in the white jacket…

As for all the ladies who could not answer a contest question, don’t worry as you would never fail. The answer was Belevedere vodka is made from 100% Dankowskie Gold Rye

Info break

Rye (Secale cereale) is a grass grown extensively as a grain and forage crop. It is a member of the wheat tribe (Triticeae) and is closely related to barley and wheat. Rye grain is used for flour, rye bread, rye beer, some whiskies, some vodkas, and animal fodder. (source: wikipedia)

Belvedere is made from a single grain unlike other brands which uses mix grains etc. I believe this elevates the taste of the vodka which gives it the distinctive taste it has.

So P.Dandelion answered the question with ‘much assistance’ and…

She won… YES!!! What she won? Le GRAND prize is…

A 1.5 Liter (Magnum) Belvedere vodka. Joy to the world!!! (This is a size comparison picture)

Uphold the majesty of this gigantic bottle. Aaaahhh… what a beauty. This is the Magnum bottle (1.5 liters). It also goes 2 sizes bigger, 3 Liters (Jeroboam) and 6 Liters (Methuselah)

Then she proceeds with an acceptance speech and was heavily congratulated by everyone.

P.Dandelion’s comment>
Serena C was asking…"anything you want to say especially to the organizer on winning this bottle???" tipsily I replied..."oh yeah, thank you very much. U can’t imagine how it means alot to me..."wtf??? *sniggering all the way*

Got a tonne of photographs taken so we are expecting to see one in the next Juice magazine etc.

P.Dandelion’s comment>
Photo with all the Malaysian celebrities and my smile of joy!!! *weird sniggering*

Belvedere (Magnum) a.k.a Our Precious

Couldn’t walk in the club without passing gawking eyes and hopeful thoughts that we were opening the bottle that night. So we went back to the car to keep ‘Our Precious’ safe and came back to continue P.A.R.T.Y.

Found our favourite bar tender/flairer. Made the happiest girl happier that night, with her very own cocktail… less herbs, more vodka.

Celebrity photo op

P.Dandelion’s comment>
Left picture
It's "Ipoh Mali" Point Blanc. He looks like Cooler Jien. hehehe

Right picture
Look its Tony Eusoff… he's so hot. Tony looks at me and straight to the bottle I was holding. He said, "Congratulations for winning" and I replied happily, "Can I take a pix wit u?"

Met these 3 nice fellas. Apparently they remembered how we look from the blog.

Guys, if you are reading this, I apologize for not being able to recognize who’s who even though I have your cards. Tipsy la bro.

P.Dandelion’s comment>
People that recognizes us for our blog!!!

We went on to enjoy the night escapsulated in a sea of loud hip hop tunes, cocktails and the well-created ambience of Sunshine Modern.

Event was over at 11 and we left the club joyfully blissful. That's about it for the good stuff. In this blog we always leave the best part to last.

The Downside...

Poise and elegant Serena C...and Serena C again...Serena C one more time... and Ooops, funk-up Serena C.

These were pictures taken 20 minutes before we left the club... Mad Intoxicating Fun. P.Dandelion woke up the next morning with a bad hangover and I was tired as hell.

Stay tune for the Matt Hardwick - Online Interview and I see you guys on this 15th for the March CoolerBabies Party 2008.

Event first, blog later. Chow.
